Winter Wonderland to Psalm 17 February 25th, 2015
(video linked)
Winter, lenten greetings to you all.
Alabama has been blanketed in an unusual amount of snowfall since yesterday afternoon, when it first began to fall. Snow days do not happen often in Alabama! Late yesterday morning the snow began to fall, non-stop until very early in the morning today. I went out while it was snowing yesterday to take my first set of pictures. It was a magical wonderland out there! Before I went out this morning for more pictures, I discovered Psalm 17 in today's readings for Liturgy of the Hours. I could not have found a more perfect narrative for the beauty of nature, blanketed by this rare Alabama snowfall in February. While I was on my second walk today, in the middle of the forest, 4 stories high from the river, I received a call from my little 4 year-old godson in Argentina! He recited the beautiful poem, "Lovely Lady Dressed in Blue", while I tromped through the blue-white snow.
Would you like to take a walk with me? The snow, the psalms, time to offer thanks for the beauty around us...come for a walk with me and share in this time of prayer.
Dress warm, with hat, gloves and boots! Marianna was so chilled when we were done she asked if she could take a 'snoak'.
I guess that's a bubble bath after you've been soaked in the snow.
So, I dedicate my last picture in this slideshow to my little godson, Caleb. Mary, he is so blessed to have you for his mama. As I read this poem, I still hear him saying all these words! Our Lady must be smiling on us all. Thankfully, Sharon
Lovely Lady Dressed in Blue
Lovely Lady dressed in blue ----
Teach me how to pray!
God was just your little boy,
Tell me what to say!
Did you lift Him up, sometimes,
Gently on your knee?
Did you sing to Him the way
Mother does to me?
Did you hold His hand at night?
Did you ever try
Telling stories of the world?
O! And did He cry?
Do you really think He cares
If I tell Him things-
Little things that happen? And
Do the Angels' wings
Make a noise? And can He hear
Me if I speak low?
Does He understand me now?
Tell me ---- for you know?
Lovely Lady dressed in blue ----
Teach me how to pray!
God was just your little boy,
And you know the way.
